The ANZSI Medal was re-named the John Simkin Medal in 2014. The Medal is awarded for an outstanding index, as assessed by the Judging Panel. Judges may decide that no nomination satisfies the criteria and thus no Medal is awarded, and judges may or may not make commendations.
In some years no medal was awarded or no awards were made at all, thus the gaps in the year list below. See the Highly Commended awards page for the list of commendations.
The Medal award has been offered at differing periods since 1985, and from 2016 is biennial. The 2020 awards were postponed until 2021 due to the COVID pandemic. The next round will be in 2024.
Use the Look Inside feature on linked titles below to view their indexes.
Leading names in bold are the names of the indexers awarded the Medal.
